4 April- return to Anacortes

5 April- 1:30 p.m. near Fernhill Cemetery (Anacortes). 1 NG soaring.
I have just returned from Tucson making it 22 months of observing NG in city limits and just beyond- starting in winter 2000-01. Again, I have observed polymorphic NG in Tucson. These hawks have red vermiculation on chest, belly, and under wing coverts.
I also made a side trip to San Diego to be with visiting relatives. NG were observed on 3 daily occasions. One soaring over Lego Land in Carlsbad. One gliding over the Museum of Natural History, and then perched in an open snag. This hawk was glassed- a mature female. And at the start of the Dolphin Exhibit at Sea World- a female NG was flapping and gliding toward the crowd.
