22 July 1:15 P.M.- near Fernhill Cemetery; 1 male NG circling at about 500 feet elevation. The bird had a large area of white under tail coverts.
16 August 12 P.M.- Near Skyline Marina; 1 mature NG heading over my moving truck. The hawk was at elevation of 100 feet. The hawk did not have prey, therefore was going toward Washington Park to procure prey. Cooper's Hawks are nesting in this knob of hillside; thickly wooded.
22 August 4:15 p.m. - Fernhill Cemetery- 1 mature NG circling and flapping. Observation time- 1 minute
25 August 12:30 p.m.- Downtown Anacortes; 1 immature male NG; the hawk was the size of a male NG. The bird had the proportions of a male NG. The bird was flapping as a NG can flap, with deep , flexible, and rapid wing beats. Elevation of bird about 200 feet as it circled over and over again. The wings were unfurling on the upward stroke. I will use "unfurl" more often to describe the upward movement of the wing when in active flight. NG can show 3 types of active wing beats. 2 of these active wing beat types- will show unfurling, but only one type will show true -deep unfurling.

Goshawk with prey
19 June- 4:30 p.m. Fernhill Cemetery; 1 male NG with prey (small) such as mouse; At 150- 200 feet elevation. This bird was weak or tired . It should not have been having difficulty with this cross-wind.
5 July - about 11 a.m., near Alton Daniel's Field; 1 male NG; The hawk was circling carrying large prey.

27 April - Fernhill Cemetery Area - 1 female NG soaring. I am quite sure there are 2 female NG in the area along with the 2 male NG.
1 May A.M. -Goose Rock, Deception Pass State Park- NG doubles!
Male and female NG aerial display. The male had a square-tip tail. The hawks appeared to have no terminal bands.
3 May P.M. - RVP area. 1 female NG soaring at about 1000-2000 feet elevation.

5 June 2:45 p.m. - RVP; 1 male NG circling and flapping at about 150 feet elevation- each wing had a missing feather.
10 June 10 a.m.- Interstate 5 and Conway exit; 1 female NG circling over and over again at 200 feet elevation. The hawk was attacked by 3 crows.

Goshawk doubles
18 April - P.M. Pioneer Trails RV Park (RVP) which is just outside of city limits. 1 male NG perched- circling and flapping overhead was a female NG. The female had loose, buoyant wing beats and was also thin and lanky.
22 April 10 A.M. RVP - 1 male Goshawk. The hawk had no terminal band. Insights- there are 2 male NG and at least 1 female NG hunting in this area. The other male NG had a thick, white terminal band with an asymmetrical V- notched tail. ALSO- 12 P.M. 1 female NG- soaring high over the RV park. This NG is unusual because of loose, buoyant , deep wing beats - again a male NG hunting over the tall tree tops.
26 April A.M. -Skyline Marina- Merlin and Goshawks. 1 Merlin circling over the tennis courts. 10 minutes later a NG circling very high. A few minutes later 1 female NG circling with 3 gulls. This female had a somewhat unusual structure. Even though it was about 7 miles away from the unusual female NG I observed on April 22 it was probable the the same hawk.
